Magnum's Home Page

I lost my dear boy Magnum on Monday, June 30, 2003. He went to the vet to get his hair shaved off as he was pretty hot. He requires a tranquilizer to get shaved. He got through the clipping ok, but died aftewards. We had some indication that his heart was weak.

We miss him so much. He was such a happy and good natured dog and many people on the Internet loved him dearly.

We had him 10 years which is far too short of a time. He could have been as old as 13 which is old for a Bouvier.

Goodbye good dog. We love you.

Giant Tumor!

On Tuesday morning, January 28, 2003, I woke up at 4:30 for some unknown reason. I found Magnum to be in some respiratory distress. I got Sharon up and by 5:00, we were on the way to the vet hospital.  Some drugs settled him down and an x-ray showed he had a MASSIVE tumor in his stomach. A few hours later, he was in surgery. Some pictures are available here.

This is Magnum, a Bouvier des  Flandres. Magnum was found on the streets of Palmdale California several years ago. He was rescued from the pound by a member of the Southern California Bouvier des Flandres club. I offered to foster him for a time, but after having him at home for an hour, I decided he was a "keeper." Unlike most Bouviers, Magnum has his  original ears and tail which is almost always in constant motion. Magnum's favorite  hobbies are eating and laying on  top of daddy when possible.

Magnum's Summer 'Do

It sure doesn't LOOK like a Bouvier. Natural ears, full tail, white blaze on the chest, and NO COAT! But I assure you, Magnum is 100% Bouvier!

More than any photo, the real Magnum was captured by Emily Nutt (age 9) of Lafayette, Colorado. Her artwork clearly depicts Magnum as the big lovable goofball that he is.
